The Ernest + Wordie Story

Founded by lifelong artist Hailey Estes in 2019, Ernest + Wordie is the marriage of a love of pretty letters and a career in event management. 

Hailey's affinity for art and design was evident at a young age when she would spend hours in her Grandma Shirl's art studio. As she grew older, Hailey experimented with a wide variety of mediums including watercolor, pen and ink illustration, printmaking, textile art and clay sculpture. It wasn't until college that she took a calligraphy class and was instantly captivated. She began offering her calligraphy services to friends and family while working full time as an event planner in the golf industry. 

During this time, Hailey was fortunate to travel extensively and produce on many high-level events in sports and hospitality. While she found the work immensely rewarding and exciting, Hailey dreamed of a job where she could be creative and draw on her artistic background. 

In 2019, Ernest + Wordie was born. Initially operating as a strictly calligraphy business, Hailey quickly realized the intersection of calligraphy and stationery and introduced stationery products to her offerings that same year. Since 2019, Hailey has delighted over 300 clients, been a part of over 125 weddings and has been featured in national and local publications.

Wedding Invitations

We offer two types of wedding invitations, semi-custom and custom suites.

Semi-Custom designs are available on our website and are best suited for couples who are looking for beautiful stationery, but don't require design customization. Most couples who choose a semi-custom design invest between $750-$3,000 (depending on print method). These designs are personalized with your unique wedding details, but offer no further customization.

Custom suites, on the other hand, are completely bespoke, featuring elements like hand calligraphy, custom illustration, water color and more. Our custom designed suites begin at $2,500 with the average couple investing between $3,500-$6,000. 

Most wedding clients will also utilize our services for day-of paper goods and branding such as signage, menus, place cards, seating charts, programs and so much more.

Calligraphy Envelope Addressing

Hand calligraphy addressing by Hailey is always available to semi-custom and custom invitation clients. Most scripts are available at an incremental cost of between $5-7 per envelope.

Hailey addresses envelopes purchased through other stationers on a limited basis and is usually booked several months in advance. For these projects, Hailey requires extra envelopes (at least +15% of the total count), so remember to order extras and inquire early.

Additional Stationery Offerings

We offer day-of wedding stationery (like place cards, programs, menus, etc.), personal stationery, custom calligraphy commissions and more. Please contact us for a custom quote.
